ABOUT ME

BEHIND THE LENS

Jay graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1973 with a four year Associate Degree in Communication and Design. He has been shooting professionally and personally since college. For years he shot a Iot with two Hasselblad 501's and now he exclusively uses Canon Digital cameras and lenses. Post production work is done with Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop and he depends on an Epson P800 printer and varying brands of Archivalo paper for his images.

Jay now devotes his time to shooting fine art portfolios for gallery shows and collectors of fine art photography. He also likes to teach. The art of lighting is critical to images that are "keepers" as opposed to pictures that are "so-so". Getting the most out of a subject, be it a human or a landscape is what makes it all worthwhile. He will be happy to discuss with you and show you the steps needed to create photography magic. Even though today's cameras are smart, it takes the utilization of photography "rules" to open the floodgates of creativity. Jay will be blogging periodically about shooting with a camera. Topics such as Depth of Field, Aperture, Long Exposures and the Post Production processes needed to finish the job will be discussed. You can always e mail him and he does respond to all requests.
